Basic qualities of a leader

Practice shows that true leaders, in comparison to formal managers, characterize dominant features, which, in reality, are the product of well learnt, drilled and successfully applied skills. So, for example, this is the speed of decision taking and the quality of them, charismatic persuasiveness and clearance of results’ vision.

How could these competences be gathered into your possession? How could you own them and be taught to apply them effectively?  

Significantly, their formation is tied with professional education and acquiring specific knowledge, let it be in technical or humanitarian spheres. It lies in the sphere of so-called soft-skills, flexible skills, ability to which is guaranteed by the human being’s animativeness against a computer or artificial intellect.

Among them, the basic ones for a leadership are decision taking, problem discovery, search for possibilities and choice of a management style.

The secret of successful decision taking is usually in the ability to control irrational components, in other words, emotions. Critical thinking helps to reduce, hold emotions or redirect them. It is called management of the subjective part of decision taking.  

Mastership of successful problem solving is tied with the ability to find out problems at the embryonic stage, before they reach their critical level of development. Such an approach presupposes an ability to see potential problems through the lens of their future resolution.

Problem resolution is logically connected with the usage of available resources as well as with search for new possibilities, which were previously not even suspected. Mastership of a leader is that he sees more and further than usual specialists.   There are a lot of management styles, but effective leaders choose exactly those, which work the best. Meanwhile they are oriented on themselves and their own type of personality, as well as on the specific of the company and business, peculiarities of staff and the team. They combine and achieve the best match of approaches in the frames chosen by their management style.
