How to work from home and not be distracted

11.10.2022

Working from home is a dream for many people. No need to waste time and money on commuting to and from the office, no meetings, no dress code, no annoying co-workers, no ultra-early rises, and no control other than your own. Just the last moment from this wonderful list of benefits sometimes crosses out the “remote” for many people. After all, not everyone is able to organize their time in such a way as to really work, and not sit in social networks and watch TV shows. How to achieve maximum productivity and reduce idleness to a minimum later in the text.

Set working hours.
The biggest problem with remote work is that there are usually a lot of more interesting things to do at home. Therefore, the first thing you should do is to clearly outline for yourself the time when you are engaged only in work matters. Remove all distractions from your mind, or even imagine that you are not working from home. And if you suddenly have some urgent business, ask yourself – could you do it in the office? If not, then it is better to do it before or after work.

Plan your ideal work day.
Let’s take the average person at the average job. How does it work and with what attitude does it go to work? As a rule, this is stretching the strap according to the principle – “no matter how much I do, I will be paid the same.” Accordingly, a person does not particularly strain and works enough so that he is not fired, but does not show any special results.
When you’re working from home, whether you’re on your own or you’re an executor for a client, things change dramatically. No one is standing over you with a stick, and of course you can cool off just like the regulars in the office. But it’s in your best interest to get the job done as efficiently and quickly as you can. At the same time, it is enough to simply devote all the time allocated for work to purposeful work, it is not necessary to rush somewhere specially. And there is one more thing – the faster you finish, the faster you can rest. At the same time, do not rush and do it in a hurry, this will only make things worse. Set yourself one or two tasks for a day or for a certain period and focus on their implementation.

Draw boundaries for friends and loved ones.
Just because you’re working from home doesn’t mean it’s not serious, and if you get distracted here and there, it’s not a big deal. You work, you earn, where and how – it doesn’t matter, it’s the same job. And it requires concentration. Therefore, it is important to warn your closest social circle that you should not be disturbed during the hours you specified.
If you stick to your work ethic and stick to your promises, others will accept your new circumstances too, and you’ll have more time to focus on work.
