Five important qualities of a good salesman

To be a good salesman is not an easy task as he should have a range of personnel and professional qualities. In the ideal situation he should be a salesman, a psychologist, a negotiator, an expert in his field. However, like an actor, in the competence of who there are a lot of different elements from other spheres, for a salesman all these skills should serve for one important goal- to sell. 

And here below there are five main professional qualities of a salesman.

Orientation on client’s demands 

«Flog» something once and cooperate for a long period of time are absolutely different things. Anyone could do flogging, and cooperating is what distinguishes a good salesman from a deletant.  The most important here in is an ability to hear and listen to a client, his problems and demands. In this case a salesman would be able much easier to offer his solution to a situation through a product or service, which would be profitable not only for him, but, firstly and foremostly, for his client.

Understanding of a person’s psychology 

Ability to “consider” emotions and mood of a person helps a salesman in defining the true strategy of his behavior in a specific situation and in forecasting the client’s reaction, which in the result would allow to build up trusting relations with a customer. 

Ability to work with objections 

Often clients are not satisfied, or they even ask a lot of questions beyond the salesman told them. That is why an ability to answer the questions quickly, competently and confidently and work with objections is a bread for a salesman. 

Product knowledge

It is difficult to make a choice, not knowing all the information about the product, its characteristics, features and peculiarities. But a client even is not obliged to know all, as it is not his work. But the work of a salesman, in case of confusion of the potential client, a salesman should clarify to him all peculiarities about the product and help him to make the right choice. 

Ability to persuade  

In other words, this is an ability to identify correctly psych types of the clients and use only those methods of persuasion, which would work in this or that exact case. It is important to remember, that many strategies of behavior could not be good or not relevant, depending on the situation, where they are implemented.
