How to stop procrastinating?

Procrastinating, it means when you delay important things to be done for a long time and kill your time in order not to do the main task- that is the enemy number one for the majority of people, which we speak about work. To this or that grade, all people have such a sin. Some of them are experienced procrastinators, others, and that is the minority, could bring themselves down and start working. A lot of books and articles have been written about this event. We have also written about it earlier. The reason, why we return to it, is that advice is different everywhere and every person would be able to find something, which would work exactly for him.

Postponing deals is conscious emotional reaction to what we do not want to do. The less we like our work, the more we want to do something else. The more boring and difficult the task is, the less satisfaction it brings, the more you would prefer it looking through a news list and watching videos on “Youtube”.

From the position of neurological functions, it is not possible to explain procrastination logically. But it is possible to help that “logical” part of brains to get over the temptation to give up important work. As soon as you feel that the conflict is growing between logics you need to work) and emotions (but that is so difficult and monotonous, I would better watch TV), immediately start struggling with temptation. Here are some methods to help you. Try to make your job more attractive.

Come to its fulfillment as to a game. For example, if the task, which you need to do, is boring, not interesting for you, have a look how much you would be able to write during an hour.

You do not need to do everything immediately  

Imagine, you need to write down an article, but before it would be a good idea to have a preliminary investigation. How much time are you ready to spend on reading this material? Two hours, an hour, thirty minutes? Choose such period of time, let it be 20 minutes, when your resistance to work would become weakest to its maximum or leave fully- and start.

Start

«Being afraid of a white list» is cured only by putting on their ink. As soon as you start doing at least something, it would be much easier to be drawn into work. Moreover, there is also a psychological moment here – having started any work, it would not be easy for you to give it up, that is why you would soon return to it in order to do it till the end.  

Turn off the Internet  

It seems that is the most difficult in this list of tips. During our times it is impossible to imagine our life without the Internet and mobile connection, and for many people it is even more difficult not to go to the Internet every 5-10 minutes in order to check something – social nets, messages, news, calls. It distracts from your deals the most. There is only one decision – to remove all electronic devices from your view and try to be drown into work with full concentration.
