Rules of brainstorming

Today’s business often demands taking quick decisions. Objective is complicated if the decisions cover wide scale and are responsible managing decisions, meaning of which has a high prize. Situation of management herein could be characterized by high level of uncertainty and risks, information deficit, variety of connected factors. Resource decisions in business are always directly or indirectly expressed in humane aspect. In such terms it is not possible to act without trained skills of decision taking. They, in their turn, are based on certain principles. 

Strategy of decision taking should be based on system approach, which presupposes learning the case in detail, consideration the key factors of the process and optimal alternatives. Constructive environment of management, where all necessary information is gathered and systemized, where alternatives are formed and analyzed, risks and possibilities are evaluated. One of the methods of constructional environment is such an element for working out team decisions, as brainstorming. The most valuable in it is independent opinion, personnel points of view, initiatives and decisions’ projects of participants. 

Brainstorming as a form of team cooperation, working out and taking managing decisions also has useful rules: 

• Basic functional roles, such as a generator, developer, critic, integrator, should be distributed among the participants;
• Firstly, a problem is clearly set, and the terms of its discussion are explained, as well as general frames of future decision;
• The stage of ideas’ generation presupposes any ideas for a reason, including nonstandard, fantastical and even absurd; 
• Combination of ideas, synthesis of their best elements is important;
• Critics and evaluation of offered ideas should to correct and constructive to its maximum;
• Selection of ideas suits by the criteria of their match with a problematic situation and practical benefit. 

Obvious advantage of such a tool, as brainstorming, is synergetic effect of mutual work, vision in volume, positive thinking and unlocking the creative potential of a team.
